Rachel Przeslawski

Dr. Rachel Przeslawski is an internationally recognised marine scientist with extensive leadership experience across various sectors. She has held prominent roles in marine science at a leading environmental consultancy, state government, Commonwealth government, and universities. She has also held several leadership roles for professional marine societies, including as President of the Australian Marine Sciences Association.
During this time, Rachel has also led significant projects including the development of national standards for marine sampling, research on offshore seismic impacts, and collaborations with taxonomists that have led to major biodiversity discoveries. Her career highlights include leading the establishment of a fossil emblem for the ACT, developing a 10-year strategy for Australia’s largest professional marine science association, and providing strategic guidance for the National Environmental Science Program.
Rachel’s skills include marine ecology, best practice development, technical writing and review, science communication and engagement, and strategy development. She has been recognised with numerous awards and honours and continues to contribute to the scientific community through publications and leadership roles.
Her extensive publication record includes over 75 scientific journal articles, over 50 peer-reviewed technical reports, and numerous datasets, popular science articles, position statements, and strategies. Rachel continues to be an influential figure in marine science, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and best practices in the field.
